FAQ's

What is paint protection film (PPF) ?

Paint protection film  is a high gloss(Matte option also available), optically clear (virtually invisible), hydrophobic, and self healing layer of protection for your vehicle. It is a urethane film designed to protect against damage caused by road debris/scuffs/scratches/ insects/stains and preserve the paint finish.

Do I need PPF ?

We recommend that all new vehicles get covered with paint protection film . Applying PPF to new vehicle paint is the best way of preserving the  OEM paint finish. PPF will help protect your vehicle from the road. One thing to consider when deciding on PPF coverage is the cost of the installation  vs the cost of the vehicle itself.  Every vehicle is different so the protection you will require depends on the type  of  vehicle you have and its use . Do you have a daily driver ? a weekend warrior?  a track car ? off road ? or your dream car ?

Will PPF damage my vehicle ?

PPF is meant to protect your vehicles paint finish but improper care can create issues. When improperly cared for PPF can become very costly and difficult to remove. Non OEM paint finishes can also create issues. The film can lift paint when installing or during  future removal. *Please inform  your installer if your vehicle has been repainted.

Will I be able to see the PPF/vehicle wrap ?

We strive to provide our customers with professional high quality paint protection film/vehicle wraps installations. Our goal at Autobahn Armor is to achieve a 90% seamless finish. At times the vehicle  may have certain panels with designs that won't allow the film to naturally cover. When this is the case the film must be installed by using seams/reliefs. Rest assured this won't affect the quality of the install, the seams are placed in specific areas that will help limit visibility(the film is optically clear, virtually invisible).

How soon after the installation can I drive my vehicle ?

Once paint protection film has been applied to your vehicle's surface it is best to wait at least 24 hours before driving/delivering the vehicle. This is something we recommend because this allows the film to properly cure and adhere to the surface. Also, this allows the installer to properly do a quality check on the PPF installation. When this is not possible 2-4 hours of dry/cure time and quality check is recommended. We want to ensure all edges are dry and properly laid down .
